Class: Junior Vehicle Engineering
Instructor: All About Learning, Inc
Description: An exciting class where kids build 13 different vehicles. Vehicles include everyday
vehicles, concept cars, construction machines and more to cover gearing, electric motors and
energy, friction and forces in motion, and aerodynamics. Working with partners, students will
cooperatively build and modify machines exhibiting basic engineering principles.

Description: Using LEGO Educational Divisional Materials and LEGO Technic elements, this

Class: Battle Bots
Instructor: All About Learning, Inc.
Description: Students, ages 8 and up, learn to design and build their own motorized battle
vehicles, that battle demolition derby-style, and the class is capped off with a final project.
Using principles of simple and complex machines, gearing, and mechanical advantage, students
will try to flip, push, or smash their opponent's battle vehicles. Brain over brawn through
applied physics. Lessons demonstrate the use of mechanical lifts, nets, drills, ramps and more to
disable or overcome other bots. Students may outgrow their love of LEGOs (don't count on it),
but this insight into physics will stay with them forever. Working with partners, students will
cooperatively build and modify machines, exhibiting basic engineering principles.

Class: Jazz Combo
Description: Open to instrumentalists of all abilities and age levels (middle school through
adult), jazz combo classes provide an opportunity to not only learn from, but study with, play
with, and listen to jazz musicians of the highest caliber. This relaxed program, in a hands-on
format, is a great way to get started in jazz improvisation.

Class: Performing Chamber Music I

Description: This course is designed to bring musicians together and expose them to
performance in a small ensemble environment. Chamber music offers one of the greatest
educational experiences as well as the most gratifying musical experiences for musicians young
and old. These ensembles can include a wide variety of instruments. Some common ensembles
include the string quartet (two violins, viola, and cello), piano trio ( violin, cello and piano),
piano duo, and woodwind quartet (flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon). However, duos, trios,
quartets, and quintets can be formed by any string instruments, woodwinds or the piano.

Class: Music Theory - Preparatory Rudiments
Instructor: Dr. Ann Chen
Description: Elements of study include the keyboard clefs, line and space notes, notes in the
treble clef, notes in the bass clef, note and rest values, common terms and signs, sharps, flats,
naturals, the grand staff, simple time, ledger lines, note stems, chromatic and diatonic
semitones, perfect and major intervals, Italian terms, whole tones, key signatures, major scales,
harmonic and melodic minor scales, writing at the octave, analysis and melody writing,
identifying the key of a melody, dominant and subdominant triads, and intervals using a key
signature. $30 material fee due at first class.

Class: Music Theory - Basic Rudiments
Instructor: Dr. Ann Chen
Description: Elements of study include a review of preparatory rudiments, note and rest values,
accidentals, semitones and tones of the major scales, key signatures, the minor key, identifying
the key of a melody, intervals, triads, simple time, writing at the octave, Italian terms, analysis,
melody writing, and rhythmic dictation. $23 material fee due at first class.

Class: Music Theory - Intermediate Rudiments

Description: Elements of study include a review of basic rudiments, double sharps and flats,
major, minor, and chromatic scales; scale degrees in 20th-century music, rewriting melodies
using a key signature, augmented and diminished intervals, compound time, inversions of
triads, perfect and plagal cadences, transposition, correcting errors, Italian terms and signs,
analysis and melody writing. $24 material fee due at first class.

Description: Elements of study include a review of intermediate rudiments, enharmonic notes
and scales, C clefs, tetrachords, 20th-century music, simple and compound intervals, augmented
and diminished triads, 7th chords, imperfect cadences and melody writing, hybrid time,
transposition, score types, correcting errors, transposing for orchestral instruments, ornaments,
terms and signs, and analysis. $26 material fee due at first class.

World Language Immersion Classes with Yak Academy (Location: Maple Arts Academy)

Description: Ballet is the basis of all Western dance forms, including jazz (a fluid, fast, upbeat
form of ballet), and tap, a rhythm-based form of dance relying on precise footwork to create
unique and appealing sounds. This class combines all three dance styles to allow students to
learn the basics of tap, jazz and ballet and help the student to develop balance, grace, strength,
physical control, and a love for dancing!

C.A.S.T. - Crafts, Arts & Storytelling Theatre

Description: This is an incredibly fun performance and art & crafts based class. In this class
students will learn how to tell stories and create arts & crafts that relate to Storytelling Theatre
using a variety of creative materials. Crafts include story-sticks borrowed from the Native
American tradition, puppets, fairy doors & more. Weekly activities include improvisational
theatre games, teacher performances, group story theatre performance, and creative arts & crafts
time. The mission of this class is to build story comprehension and listening skills,
imaginations, artistic skills, performance & speaking skills, and to explore play and dramatic
expression. Our final class and production day will give students an opportunity to perform for

L.O.L. - Laugh Out Loud Improv Theatre
Instructor: Karen Czarnik
Description: Are you funny, imaginative, and resourceful? Do you like to make people laugh? If
so, and you're a fan of the television show "Whose Line is it Anyway?", then you'll love this new
class. This outrageously witty and creative class features improvisational theatre games and
comedy skits to build confidence, stretch imaginations, explore dramatic expression, and
enhance speaking skills. This performance-based class provides an opportunity for inventive
students to learn about team based ensemble performance, improvisational, and comedic
acting. Our final class and production day will give students an opportunity to perform for
